Reason #3,417

. . . why I want to be James Lileks when I grow up. (Scroll down and you'll know which section I'm referring to.) Nothing gets my goat quite as much as the fathomless contempt of the tolerant class for their inferiors. And no one skewers the tolerant class quite like the inimitable (sadly for me) Mr. Lileks.

Gina,

Greetings from Afghanistan! I am supporting Operation Enduring Freedom out here in Bagram and I thought I would drop you a line.

I admire Mr. Lileks efforts, but it is tremendously frustrating for me to see people attacking the "tolerant class" because they cannot defend a Biblical world view in any other way. Tearing apart their "arguments" is like shooting fish in a barrel . . . Of course, the traditional interpretation of the Bible is difficult to defend, as you yourself noted in a recent posting where you advised people to read the Bible "if they had a good commentary". As Mike Holland will tell you, however, there is a better way. A biblically literal Christian apologetic that makes sense of the Old Testament and solves many of the classical Christian paradoxes is freely available to anyone who would take a few hours to understand it.

I do enjoy your writing very much so God Bless and keep up the good work!
